This is a one day course aimed at advanced users and Super Users particularly System Administrators.
The Management Console course is designed for system administrators who may sit in the Finance rather than the IT team. It is therefore a non-technical guide to what is essentially an IT department’s tool.
It is a high level introduction, covering what the Management Console is used for. It takes users through most of the screens and nodes (menu items), showing them how to set up new queues and covers a number of the parameters and environment variables. It touches on the web servers and the web services, but all from a non-technical standpoint. It covers each of the nodes in the menu, what they do, and how to make changes, how to use them etc, but also what NOT to change !!!
Management console is rarely left in the hands on non IT people, but it is important that the system administrators understand a bit about it, even if only in terms of server queue management, stopping and starting services etc, and killing jobs which have been incorrectly ordered.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Console overview – what is its purpose, what does it do, how does it fit into a Business World system management set of processes.
- Main features – set up, access, screen structure and navigation, look and feel
- Main functions – what things would it be used for and worked example of how to use it to carry out those tasks
- Limitations, risks and warnings – things not to do!
Given that management console is only available on the business server it is not something that many people can have access to all at the same time. Therefore the course is more of a demo/journey through the tool rather than a user involvement course
The course will run from 9.30 – 4.30pm with an hours break for lunch. There will also be break times in the morning and afternoon to allow delegates to get refreshments and snacks.
Training manuals will be provided electronically along with a link to the session which will be delivered via Zoom.
There will be plenty of time for you to ask questions and groups will be kept small with a maximum of 6 delegates per session so that everyone has the chance to absorb and digest what they are learning.
Please note: As sessions are being delivered remotely due to the current Covid 19 situation, there may be some unavoidable background noise or interruptions. In addition if we do experience the odd technical glitch – we will do whatever we can to ensure they are overcome as quickly as possible.
